Iran fired waves of missiles and drones on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026 toward Israel and several Gulf countries that host US forces and facilities, including Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, according to Reuters and official statements cited in its reporting.

Authorities across the Gulf said air defences intercepted incoming projectiles, while residents in multiple cities reported loud blasts consistent with interception activity. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said the strikes targeted what it called US bases and vowed the operation would continue, Reuters reported.

In the UAE, Reuters reported one death in Abu Dhabi. In Dubai, a fire broke out near a hotel on Palm Jumeirah, while Dubai International Airport sustained minor damage with four people injured. Reuters also reported that intercepted drone debris sparked a small fire on the outer facade of the Burj Al Arab.

Bahrain confirmed an attack on its territory, and Reuters cited reporting that a service centre linked to the US Fifth Fleet was hit, with debris and fragments falling in other locations as well.

As a precaution, education authorities in Bahrain and Qatar said schools would move to remote learning from Sunday, Reuters reported, alongside official warnings to avoid touching any fragments or debris.

In Israel, emergency measures included shutting schools and many workplaces, banning public gatherings and moving some hospital activity underground, Reuters reported, as the country braced for further launches.

Reuters also reported a call between the UAE president and the Saudi crown prince urging restraint and a return to diplomacy, as regional leaders sought to contain the escalation.
