Israel tightens its hold in south Lebanon as Washington prepares new talks

Israel expanded its military restrictions in southern Lebanon on Monday, warning residents to stay away from a broad area covering 21 villages and parts of the Litani zone, despite a ceasefire that took effect last week. The move signaled a deeper entrenchment on the ground as tensions remained high.
At the same time, the United States is set to host a second round of ambassador-level talks between Lebanon and Israel on Thursday in an effort to reinforce the fragile truce and prevent a broader deterioration.
