A Saudi Aramco administrative building in Dhahran was struck late Tuesday, sparking a limited fire but causing no reported injuries or deaths, Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry said.
The ministry said emergency authorities responded to the incident and took the necessary measures. Its initial statement did not identify the weapon used or name the party responsible for the strike.
A company source later told Reuters that a ballistic missile had hit Aramco’s headquarters complex, damaging the top three floors of an office tower. Other sources familiar with the incident said the building caught fire.
The Dhahran complex houses a major operations centre overseeing Aramco’s extensive network of oil fields, pipelines, refineries and export terminals. Saudi authorities did not report any disruption to oil production in their initial statement.
The strike comes amid a renewed escalation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis, with missile and drone attacks on Saudi targets intensifying alongside Saudi-led military operations in Yemen.
