Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah and his wife Magi Sadeq have welcomed their third child and first son, naming the newborn "Layl." The baby joins the couple's two daughters, Makka and Kayan, drawing widespread attention from fans of the Egypt captain and Trabzonspor forward on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

The birth was first disclosed by Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan, who explained after the club's match against Amedspor that Salah had travelled outside Türkiye for a happy family occasion after his wife gave birth to a baby boy.

Salah's sister, Rabab, later revealed the newborn's name on Instagram, sharing a post welcoming "Layl Mohamed Salah."

Layl is Salah and Sadeq's third child. Their eldest daughter, Makka, was born in 2014, followed by Kayan in 2020. The new arrival is the couple's first son.

The family news comes during a new chapter in Salah's football career. The Egyptian forward joined Trabzonspor this summer following the end of his nine year spell with Liverpool. Trabzonspor officially announced a two year agreement with Salah on August 6, while Liverpool also confirmed his move to the Turkish club.

Salah left Liverpool after scoring 257 goals in 442 appearances, departing as the third highest goalscorer in the club's history following a career filled with major domestic and European trophies.

"Layl" is an Arabic word meaning night, referring to the period between sunset and dawn. Salah and his wife have not publicly explained whether a particular personal meaning influenced their choice of the name.
