Report: Ronaldo ties Portugal comeback to Jorge Jesus exit

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal future took another turn Tuesday, with new reports claiming the veteran forward remains open to an international comeback — but not while Jorge Jesus is in charge of the national team.
The reported position follows a turbulent international window in which Ronaldo was left unused against Norway and later departed Portugal’s camp as questions grew over his role under Jesus.
Jesus publicly left the door open for the captain’s return, saying Ronaldo would ultimately decide whether to rejoin the squad. Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença has also described the episode as a misunderstanding that should be resolved internally.
Tuesday’s reports, however, suggest the dispute remains unresolved and that Ronaldo does not currently intend to return while Jesus stays in the job. Ronaldo himself has not publicly confirmed that condition.
The uncertainty comes ahead of Portugal’s next international window in November. Ronaldo remains Portugal’s record scorer, with 146 goals in 234 appearances.
