Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said on Sunday, March 22, 2026, that the seventh and final victim of the military helicopter crash in the country’s territorial waters had been found dead, bringing the final toll to seven. Earlier in the day, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior had announced that six of the seven people on board had been recovered before the final victim was later confirmed dead.
According to the official statement, the helicopter had been assigned to a transport mission when it went down early Sunday. Qatar’s Defense Ministry said the victims included four members of the Qatari Armed Forces, one member of the Qatar-Türkiye Joint Forces, and two Turkish civilian collaborators. Türkiye’s National Defense Ministry said the aircraft was operating within bilateral military cooperation activities and that Qatari authorities would determine the exact cause, while initial findings point to a technical malfunction.
The crash adds a human and military dimension to an already tense regional moment, as official condolences were issued in both Doha and Ankara after the final death toll was confirmed.
