ICNA Canada said Ramadan in Canada will begin on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, with the first Taraweeh prayers starting Tuesday night, February 17.
The announcement comes as several Arab countries issued official moon-sighting outcomes on Tuesday, February 17, resulting in different start dates across the region depending on whether the crescent was confirmed.
Countries starting Wednesday, Feb. 18 include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, each citing confirmed sighting and official committee decisions.
Meanwhile, Egypt and Jordan announced Thursday, February 19 as the first day of Ramadan after the crescent was not confirmed locally.
