Saudi Civil Defence said on Thursday, October 8, that debris from an intercepted ballistic missile caused damage to a kindergarten and a medical clinic complex in Riyadh.
A Civil Defence spokesman said response teams attended the scene and carried out the procedures required for such incidents.
Separately, developments concerning King Khalid International Airport unfolded as coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki announced that two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward Riyadh had been intercepted and destroyed.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group had targeted the airport with a ballistic missile. He claimed it struck its target, caused damage and disrupted air traffic. The available reports contained no Saudi confirmation of those claims.
Amid these developments, King Khalid International Airport urged passengers to contact their airlines directly and check their flight status before travelling to the airport. Agence France-Presse quoted passengers reporting cancellations or delays, but the number of affected flights was not specified.
