Rabat marked a major cultural moment with the opening show of the Royal Theater of Rabat, attended by Princesses Lalla Khadija, Lalla Meryem, and Lalla Hasnaa, alongside Brigitte Macron, wife of the French president.

The ceremony highlighted Rabat’s growing role as a cultural capital and reflected Morocco’s wider effort to place the arts at the heart of national development, combining cultural identity with international openness.

The evening began with a film introducing the Royal Theater as a new cultural landmark in Morocco’s capital. The program then featured performances by leading Moroccan artists in opera, classical music, piano, oud, and orchestral direction.

The Royal Theater of Rabat is considered one of Morocco’s most important cultural projects. The complex includes a main hall with about 1,800 seats, an open air amphitheater with a capacity of up to 7,000 people, and additional spaces designed for artistic experimentation and public performances.

Its opening sends a broader message: investing in culture is not only about hosting performances, but also about creating institutions that support artists, attract audiences, and strengthen Morocco’s presence on the international cultural map.
