Prof. Dr. Ahmed Gaber, Cultural Counselor and Director of the Egyptian Educational Mission in Canada, joined the launch of the Union of Arab-Canadian Cultural Associations in Montreal on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Speaking at the Saint-Laurent recreation centre, he affirmed the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Bureau’s support for the union and expressed interest in working together to promote Arab culture in Canada.
The ceremony brought together representatives of Arab cultural associations and institutions, with Razan Youssef Mohammed Saleh, Iraq’s Consul General in Montreal, also attending. The new union aims to help participating associations coordinate their cultural work and develop partnerships while maintaining their independence.
Gaber congratulated the union’s founders and members, then drew on his experience in cultural affairs to offer suggestions on organizing events and strengthening their impact. His remarks also addressed opportunities for cooperation between Arab and Canadian institutions.
Looking ahead, he expressed hope that cooperation with the union would lead to joint events and cultural initiatives, introducing wider audiences to Arab culture and strengthening its presence in Canadian society.
