Spain booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final after delivering an impressive 2-0 victory over France in Tuesday’s semifinal at Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

La Roja controlled the contest with disciplined defending, patient possession and effective pressure against a French side featuring Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and Michael Olise.

Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after Lamine Yamal was brought down inside the area. Yamal also found the net during the match, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

France attempted to respond through the pace of Mbappé and Dembélé, but Spain’s defensive organization limited their opportunities and prevented one of the tournament’s most dangerous attacks from building momentum.

Pedro Porro doubled Spain’s advantage in the 58th minute, completing a well-constructed move involving Dani Olmo and leaving France with a deficit they were unable to overcome.

Spain maintained their defensive dominance until the final whistle, recording their sixth clean sheet in seven World Cup matches. The Spanish side has conceded only one goal during the tournament, underlining the defensive strength supporting its creative and technically gifted attack.

The result sends Spain into only the second World Cup final in the country’s history and its first since winning the championship in South Africa in 2010. It also extends Spain’s unbeaten run to 37 international matches.

Spain will face the winner of Wednesday’s semifinal between England and Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday, July 19, in East Rutherford, New Jersey. France will play the losing semifinalist in the third-place match on Saturday.
