Toronto Police Increase Reward in Fairview Mall Shooting Investigation

Toronto police and Toronto Crime Stoppers have announced an enhanced cash reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest of Kyle Douglas Prouse, a Montreal man wanted in connection with a robbery and shooting investigation at Fairview Mall in North York. The enhanced reward remains in effect until June 30, 2026.
Police said the incident happened on the morning of April 21, 2026, when officers responded to reports of a shooting at the mall, located in the Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East area. Investigators allege that a male suspect entered a jewellery store, stole merchandise, and was confronted by a member of the mall’s security team. During the interaction, the security officer was shot and later taken to hospital with serious injuries.
According to police, the suspect fled the mall in a white van heading southbound on Don Mills Road. The van was later recovered near Shaughnessy Boulevard and George Henry Boulevard, after which the suspect allegedly fled the area in a black Honda Accord.
Police have identified the wanted man as 53-year-old Kyle Douglas Prouse of Montreal, saying he also has ties to Toronto and Vancouver. Investigators say he is wanted in connection with a broader series of robberies and break-ins targeting banks and jewellery stores across Ontario and Quebec, with incidents dating back to 2023.
Toronto police have released images and video of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 416-808-7350. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
