130 Ancient Egyptian Treasures Go on View in San Francisco

San Francisco’s de Young Museum has opened Treasures of the Pharaohs to the public, bringing together 130 ancient Egyptian works on view through January 31, 2027. The exhibition marks its first U.S. stop after an earlier presentation in Rome.
Spanning roughly 3,000 years of Egyptian history, the exhibition includes monumental stone sculptures, gold jewellery, funerary objects and items reflecting everyday life, religious beliefs and the role of the pharaohs in ancient Egyptian society.
A major highlight is a group of objects connected to discoveries from Luxor’s “Golden City,” presented to North American audiences for the first time. The exhibition also includes works from the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and the Luxor Museum.
The exhibition is being presented at the de Young in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, giving West Coast audiences access to a major collection of Egyptian antiquities.
After San Francisco, Treasures of the Pharaohs will travel to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, where it will run from March 14 through September 19, 2027.
