The High Commission of Malaysia in Canada marked the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on Friday, August 28, in Ottawa, during an evening hosted by Malaysia’s Chargé d’Affaires to Canada, Hardi Hamdin. The gathering brought together members of the Malaysian community and guests of the mission, alongside diplomatic representatives including Indonesian Ambassador to Canada Muhsin Syihab and representatives of the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam.
The celebration reflected the spiritual character of the occasion and featured a presentation highlighting moments from the life of Prophet Muhammad and the values of mercy, tolerance, good character and human connection associated with his teachings.
The evening also included prayers and religious passages, creating an atmosphere of reflection and spirituality.
As part of the program, a number of participants were honoured in recognition of their contributions to the occasion and related community activities.
A distinctive element of the recognition was the presentation of copies of the Holy Quran printed in Malaysia to the honourees. The editions include translations and explanatory material in several languages, reflecting efforts to make the meanings of the Quran accessible to readers from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
The gathering combined religious observance with community engagement, offering guests an opportunity to meet and connect in a warm setting before concluding with a dinner hosted by the Malaysian mission.
The event also reflected the Malaysian mission’s engagement with its community in Canada and its efforts to share aspects of Malaysia’s Islamic culture and heritage with guests and members of Ottawa’s diplomatic community.
