U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Canada in a Truth Social post on Friday, saying Ottawa opposes building a missile-defense project he called the "Golden Dome" over Greenland, despite his claim it would also protect Canada, Anadolu Agency reported.
In the same post, Trump said Canada "voted in favor of doing business with China" and warned Beijing would "eat them up" within the first year, without specifying what vote he was referring to or providing further details.
Anadolu linked Trump’s remarks to a recently announced Canada-China trade understanding involving tariff-related changes for Chinese-made electric vehicles and relief on selected Canadian agricultural exports.
Separately, Le Monde reported that Trump referenced the "Golden Dome" in Davos amid broader Arctic security discussions, while NATO’s secretary general denied discussing sovereignty or mineral-rights issues in that context.
Canadian officials did not immediately comment on Trump’s post, according to the reports cited.
