U.S. President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric toward Iran on Wednesday, urging Tehran to negotiate a new nuclear deal and warning that any next U.S. attack would be “far worse” if Iran does not agree to a framework that ensures “no nuclear weapons,” according to his social media posts.

Trump said a U.S. “armada” was heading toward Iran, describing a naval force led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. Reuters reported two U.S. officials said the Lincoln and accompanying warships had arrived in the Middle East.

Iranian officials responded with warnings of retaliation. Ali Shamkhani, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, said any U.S. military action would trigger attacks on U.S. interests, Israel and their supporters. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Iran’s armed forces are ready to respond “immediately and powerfully” to any aggression, while also signaling openness to a “fair” nuclear deal free of coercion.

The exchange comes amid heightened regional tensions and renewed fears of broader escalation if diplomacy fails to gain traction, according to international coverage
