US House votes to end Trump’s Canada tariffs

The U.S. House of Representatives voted on February 11, 2026 to advance a measure aimed at terminating President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canadian imports, in a rare rebuke from the Republican-led chamber as lawmakers head toward midterm elections.

 

The measure passed 219–211, with six Republicans joining nearly all Democrats. It seeks to end the national emergency used to justify the tariff action.

 

Congress.gov documents describe the underlying action as terminating the emergency declaration tied to additional tariffs on most Canadian imports.

 

Any repeal effort would still face major hurdles, including Senate action and the possibility of a presidential veto
