Aden International Airport has been fully closed following the suspension of all civilian flights, highlighting escalating political and security tensions between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates within Yemen’s southern regions.
Sources said the shutdown stems from growing disputes over inspection procedures and control of air traffic, amid diverging approaches by Saudi- and Emirati-backed factions over security and administration in Aden.
The closure has disrupted travel for hundreds of passengers, including patients, students, and expatriates, as authorities have yet to announce a clear timeline for resuming airport operations.
The move underscores broader regional frictions playing out in Yemen, where competing Gulf interests continue to affect stability, governance, and essential civilian services.
