U.S. President Donald Trump said members of the “Board of Peace” pledged more than $7 billion to support Gaza relief and reconstruction, speaking at the group’s inaugural meeting in Washington, as questions persist over how the initiative would be implemented and governed.
Reuters reported the pledges were led by Middle East countries, with announced amounts including $1.2 billion from the UAE and $1 billion each from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, alongside other support tied to aid, infrastructure and logistics.
Trump also announced a $10 billion U.S. contribution, without detailing funding sources. Reuters noted overall reconstruction costs could reach tens of billions of dollars, meaning the current commitments cover only part of the broader bill.
On security, Trump referenced plans for an international stabilization force that could total up to 20,000 personnel, with Indonesia signaling it could contribute more than 8,000 troops, while key mandate and deployment details remain unresolved.
