Families across Canada are being urged to check several household products this week after new federal safety alerts and recalls were posted for items ranging from children’s sleepwear and window blinds to food products, vitamins, kitchen appliances, and vehicles.

The latest notices, published through the Government of Canada’s recalls and safety alerts portal, include several products that may already be inside family homes, making this week’s alerts especially important for parents, caregivers, and consumers who regularly buy household goods online or in stores. The federal portal listed recent recalls involving MHZ Duo Soft Roller Shades, Secura air fryers, Toyota and Lexus vehicles, Kirkland Signature Women 50+ supplements, and Les Fermes Lufa broccoli microgreens among the latest alerts.

One of the newest recalls involves MHZ Duo Soft Roller Shades, which were recalled because they may release small parts that could pose a choking hazard to young children. Health Canada said the affected products do not meet Canada’s Corded Window Coverings Regulations. Consumers are advised to contact MHZ-NA Blinds & Shading Solutions Inc. for a free end cap replacement kit.

In the kitchen, Secura air fryers are also under recall because a wire connection inside the appliance can overheat, creating fire and burn hazards. The affected units include Secura air fryers with model number SAF-53, also identified as TXG-DS16, with date codes 1903 and 1904. Health Canada advised consumers to stop using the recalled product immediately and contact the company for the announced remedy.

Families who recently purchased children’s sleepwear should also check for U Kids We Love Cozy Pajamas Sets. The recalled pajama sets do not meet flammability requirements for children’s sleepwear, which could increase the risk of burn injuries if the clothing comes into contact with ignition sources such as candles, matches, or stove elements. Consumers are advised to stop using the products and return them to an Urban Kids or Urban Planet store for a refund.

The alerts also include a food recall affecting Les Fermes Lufa brand Broccoli microgreens because of possible pathogenic E. coli contamination. The recalled product was sold online in Ontario and Quebec in 50 gram packages from April 20 up to and including May 8, 2026. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said consumers should not eat, serve, use, sell, or distribute the recalled product.

Another health-related recall involves Kirkland Signature Women 50+ supplements, lot number 5J46568W7, due to the possible presence of foreign matter, specifically metal fragments. Health Canada advised consumers to discontinue use of the affected product and consult a healthcare provider if they have health concerns.

Vehicle owners should also be aware of a Transport Canada recall involving certain 2023 and 2024 Toyota Tundra, Lexus LX 600, and Lexus GX 550 vehicles equipped with a 3.4 litre twin turbo engine. Transport Canada said metal debris could cause crankshaft bearings to fail, which may lead to rough engine operation, failure to start, or stalling while driving. A sudden loss of power could increase the risk of a crash.

For families, the practical message is simple: check product names, model numbers, lot numbers, and purchase dates before using recalled items. Recalled products should not be sold, donated, or given away. If a product matches a federal recall notice, consumers should follow the official instructions, contact the company, and seek medical advice if anyone may have been harmed.
