Canada's Senior Women's National Flag Football Team captured the 2026 world championship after defeating the United States 27-20 in the final in Düsseldorf, Germany, securing both the world title and a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Canada overcame an early deficit in the championship game and built momentum through a strong offensive performance. Frédérique Morneau and Caroline Moquin-Joubert scored key touchdowns, while quarterback Sara Parker led the Canadian offence throughout the final.
The Canadian women completed pool play with a perfect 3-0 record and went on to finish the tournament unbeaten. Football Canada also reported that Canada's defence ranked No. 1 throughout the competition and played a major role in the team's medal run.
Quarterback Sara Parker was named tournament MVP after a standout performance that included contributions to 23 touchdown passes over the course of the championships.
The victory gave Canada its third women's world championship and its first since 2014, following previous world titles in 2010 and 2014.
The achievement carries added historic significance because flag football will make its Olympic debut at LA28. Under the qualification system, the top two eligible teams at the 2026 World Championships, excluding host nation United States, earned direct Olympic berths, giving Canada its first Olympic qualification in the sport.
Canada's men's team also earned a place at LA28 after defeating Mexico 34-26 in overtime to win bronze, meaning both Canadian senior teams will be represented when flag football enters the Olympic program for the first time.
