Canadian distance runner Mohamed Moh Ahmed did not finish the men’s race at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida, after stepping off the course early.
Canadian running coverage reported a calf issue as the reason for his withdrawal, while the official results list him as DNF, meaning did not finish, without providing a medical explanation.
Moh Ahmed is one of Canada’s top distance athletes. He won Olympic silver in the men’s 5,000 metres at Tokyo and has also reached the podium at the World Championships in the same event.
He was born in Mogadishu, Somalia, grew up in Kenya, and later moved to Canada with his family, settling in St Catharines, Ontario.
