Tawasul News publishes this week a new literary text by writer Saber Algezouri from his work "Adam in the Parallel World". Titled "No Time There", the piece carries the reader into a symbolic space beyond the body, time, and the familiar questions of existence.

No Time There

By Saber Algezouri

I saw myself there, in the tenth heaven...

Wait,

No one should ask: Is there a tenth heaven?

I do not know. My knowledge ends at the Lote Tree and the seventh heaven.

My journey was not on Buraq, nor on a flying carpet.

I ascended: my soul, my self, and my body.

Light, fire, water, and ash. Everything melted into everything, and the struggle began.

I rose into the nowhere, in the no-time, where there was no weight and no density.

I stood there singing and drawing a cloud...

The image became the origin, and the origin became an image.

I was scented by the rain. A cloud shaded me.

Birds were dancing, dinosaurs were moving, the devil was weeping, and human beings were crying and laughing.

Perhaps you think this is the afterlife?

Heaven and hell, judgment, reward, and punishment?

None of that.

I myself did not know.

I was in the place that had never crossed the heart of the first human being, nor the mind of the last artificial human.

When you go there, you will know the truth you have been searching for, and you will ask yourselves all the questions you could never answer.

There, you will know the answer and the reality of things without asking, because you will not be able to ask, argue, quarrel, or fight. There is no time there, no boredom, and no sorrow.

My words cannot come out. A muted scream is trapped inside me.

A light appeared and revealed itself, covering all existence.

Something had happened. From the light, fire emerged.

The fire rose toward the sky, took shape, and turned into particles falling like the debris of black ash. Then the scented water poured down... I felt thirsty, and I took a sip from the fragrance of eternity.

I was quenched. I saw my soul... Where was my self? I could not find my body.

I saw it in another galaxy.
