Prince Turki Al-Faisal and Anita Anand Discuss Middle East Shifts in Toronto

Prince Turki Al-Faisal Al Saud joined Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand at the University of Toronto for a discussion on the changing Middle East and the future of Canada-Saudi relations.
Anand said the discussion focused on shifting regional dynamics and the importance of stability, security and economic cooperation. She added that Canada and Saudi Arabia have an opportunity to deepen a strategic partnership in energy, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, education and security.
The meeting comes amid renewed momentum in Canada-Saudi relations. In March 2026, Anand met Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Riyadh, where both sides affirmed positive and growing bilateral ties that have developed over more than 50 years.
During that Riyadh meeting, Canada and Saudi Arabia also discussed regional security, maritime and energy security, critical infrastructure, trade and future-oriented cooperation.
The Toronto discussion highlights the growing link between Middle East diplomacy and major global priorities, including energy security, critical minerals, artificial intelligence and education.
