Qatar’s Ambassador to Canada Meets Defence Leaders and Ottawa City Councillor

His Excellency Tariq Ali Faraj Al-Ansari, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Canada, held meetings in Ottawa with Canadian defence leaders and a municipal representative, reflecting ongoing diplomatic engagement between Qatar and Canada at both official and local levels.
Ambassador Al-Ansari met with the Honourable David McGuinty, Canada’s Minister of National Defence, together with General Jennie Carignan, Chief of the Defence Staff. The meeting provided an opportunity to maintain dialogue with Canada’s defence leadership and support constructive communication between the two sides.
In a separate local engagement, Ambassador Al-Ansari met with Stéphanie Plante, Ottawa City Councillor for Ward 12, Rideau-Vanier. The discussion included an exchange of views on local priorities, municipal work, and aspects of Qatari culture, including the role of local councils and possible areas of future cooperation.
The meetings highlight two complementary tracks of diplomatic engagement: communication with national institutions and dialogue with local representatives in the capital. They also reflect the role of embassies in building relationships beyond formal government channels, including with municipal and community actors.
