Qatar Rejects Using Hormuz as Leverage as UAE Blames Iran for Tanker Attack

Qatar continues to reject the use of the Strait of Hormuz as political or military leverage, as the UAE accused Iran on Saturday of targeting a vessel linked to ADNOC with a missile while it was transiting the waterway. No injuries were reported.
Doha has repeatedly said during the crisis that freedom of navigation through Hormuz is non-negotiable and that preventing ships from passing or using the strait as leverage in a political or military conflict is unacceptable.
The UAE said the targeted vessel was linked to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, and that the situation was under control. Officials did not disclose the vessel's name, cargo or the extent of any damage.
The UAE Foreign Ministry blamed Iran for the attack and called for an end to attacks on commercial shipping and the full, unconditional reopening of the strait.
Before the conflict, roughly one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies passed through the Strait of Hormuz, making continued disruptions a major risk to regional trade and global energy markets.
