Canada’s Courtney Sarault won silver in the women’s 1000m short track speed skating final at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics on Monday, February 16, 2026.
Dutch skater Xandra Velzeboer took gold, while South Korea’s Kim Gil-li earned bronze. Italy’s Arianna Fontana finished fourth, narrowly missing a chance to move ahead in Italy’s all-time Olympic medal standings.
Canadian reporting said the result marked Sarault’s third medal of these Games after a mixed team relay silver and a 500m bronze earlier in the competition, as the short track program heads toward key remaining events including the 3000m relay final.
