Hockey Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee have named Sidney Crosby captain of Canada’s men’s hockey team for the Milano Cortina 2026, with Connor McDavid and Cale Makar selected as alternate captains.
The announcement marks Crosby’s second time wearing the “C” at the Olympics after 2014, and it comes as he returns as a two-time Olympic gold medallist (2010 and 2014). In a statement released by Hockey Canada, Crosby said it is an honour to lead a group filled with high-level players and leaders.
Men’s hockey at Milano Cortina 2026 runs Feb. 11–22, 2026 in Milan across the Milano Rho and Milano Santagiulia arenas. Canada opens preliminary-round play against Czechia on Feb. 12 at 10:40 a.m. ET, then faces Switzerland on Feb. 13 and France on Feb. 15.
