Former U.S. president Donald Trump triggered widespread condemnation after sharing a video on his Truth Social account that depicted former president Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama in a racially offensive manner, before removing the post following mounting criticism.
According to Reuters and U.S. media reports, the clip—part of a longer video circulating online—ended with imagery widely denounced as racist and degrading. The post prompted immediate backlash from civil rights advocates, Democratic lawmakers, and several Republicans, who described it as inflammatory and unacceptable political rhetoric.
The controversy intensified after initial responses from Trump’s camp downplayed the outrage, with later statements saying the video had been shared “by mistake” by a staff member and was subsequently deleted. Trump himself said he had not watched the full video before it was posted and offered no apology.
The incident has reignited debate in the United States over hate speech, political extremism, and the responsibility of public figures on digital platforms—particularly during Black History Month, when sensitivity around racial issues is heightened.
