Trump Warns China of Serious Consequences if It Arms Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump sharply escalated his rhetoric toward China, warning that Beijing would face “big problems” if it moves to supply Iran with weapons, in the latest sign of rising tension between Washington and Beijing over the Iranian file.

Trump’s remarks followed U.S. intelligence reporting that suggested China could be preparing to send air defense systems to Iran in the coming weeks. So far, however, there has been no independent public confirmation from either Washington or Beijing that any shipment has actually gone forward.

The warning comes days after Trump threatened 50% tariffs on imports from countries that supply Iran with weapons, a move widely seen as aimed mainly at China and Russia amid continued scrutiny of outside military support to Tehran.

The renewed warning also coincides with stalled U.S.-Iran talks in Islamabad, where the latest round ended without a deal, adding further sensitivity to any development tied to arms transfers or widening international alignment around Iran.
