Tunisia has been selected as the guest of honour for MTL Connecte 2027, an international technology and innovation forum held in Montreal, according to the Tunisian Embassy in Canada. The announcement follows Tunisia's participation in the event's eighth edition, held October 13–16, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen technology and digital cooperation between the two countries.
The guest-of-honour designation recognizes Tunisia's technological expertise, skilled professionals and contribution to international innovation. Kamel Makkes, Tunisia's consul in Montreal, represented the country's ambassador to Canada during the conference.
Makkes also presided over the Tunisia Global Forum, organized by the Tunisian-Canadian Business Network (RTCA) at Desjardins in Montreal. The gathering brought together entrepreneurs, specialists and investors from Tunisia and Canada to explore opportunities involving artificial intelligence, information technology and scientific research, including how emerging technologies are reshaping business operations and employment.
Tunisia's selection follows an established relationship between RTCA and MTL Connecte organizer Printemps numérique, which officially welcomed the network as a partner for its 2026 edition in September. The partnership supports professional and economic connections between Tunisia and Quebec.
