Two people were killed and 12 others injured on Sunday after a military projectile struck a residential site in Saudi Arabia’s Al Kharj governorate, in an incident that underscores how regional escalation is spilling into civilian areas. Saudi Civil Defense said emergency teams responded after the projectile hit housing belonging to a maintenance and cleaning company, also causing property damage.
According to the initial official account carried by Reuters and regional outlets, the two fatalities were reported as Bangladeshi and Indian nationals, while all 12 injured were said to be Bangladeshi residents. However, the Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia later said no Indian national had been killed in the strike, leaving one element of the casualty identification unresolved pending further official clarification.
The incident comes amid intensifying regional military tensions, with reports linking the broader wave of attacks to strikes on radar systems in locations including Al Kharj. Regardless of the final attribution, the deaths and injuries at a residential site add a sharp civilian dimension to an already volatile security picture.
