The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security announced a waiver of overstay fines for people unable to depart due to airspace closures and the suspension of some flights, saying the move is intended to ease the legal and financial burden caused by exceptional circumstances beyond travellers’ control.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the waiver applies to visitors on visit or tourist visas, holders of exit permits, and residents who cancelled their residency in preparation to leave but could not travel.
WAM added that the exemption covers fines incurred starting February 28, 2026, allowing affected individuals to regularise their status without additional penalties linked to the disruption.
