New Canadian recalls include heart medication and Lactantia dairy product

Canadian authorities have issued two new consumer alerts involving a health product and a food item: Lancora 5 mg tablets, a medication used to treat stable chronic heart failure, and Lactantia UltraPūr 2% M.F. Lactose Free Dairy Product due to over-fortification of Vitamins A and D.
Health Canada said the recall of Lancora 5 mg tablets, manufactured by Servier Canada Inc., was issued because of the possible presence of partial tablets in blister packs. The affected lots are 766141 and 769518, with DIN 02459973.
Patients are advised to check whether their product is affected and to consult a healthcare provider before stopping use of the medication or if they have any health concerns. Health Canada also asks patients to report any side effects related to the product.
In a separate food recall, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced the recall of Lactantia UltraPūr 2% M.F. Lactose Free Dairy Product in 2-litre cartons due to over-fortification of Vitamins A and D. The affected product carries UPC 0 68200 14854 0 and Best Before code JN 22, with national distribution.
The CFIA is advising consumers not to consume, serve, use, sell or distribute the recalled product. It should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase. The agency said there have been no reported illnesses linked to the product so far.
