Mona Zaki Faces Bank Seizure Over Apartment Dispute

Egyptian actress Mona Zaki is facing enforcement measures against funds held at three banks after a court ordered her to pay approximately EGP 3.63 million to the buyer of an apartment she had sold in Cairo.

The dispute centers on a financial mortgage attached to the apartment at the time of sale. After the buyer paid the amount required to clear the mortgage, he went to court seeking reimbursement from Zaki.

The court ruled in his favor and ordered Zaki to repay the amount.

Enforcement proceedings were then initiated through Commercial International Bank, the National Bank of Egypt and QNB, targeting funds belonging to Zaki up to the value of the court judgment.

Zaki challenged the ruling, but it was upheld. Her lawyer said the case is now before Egypt’s Court of Cassation, where a further appeal remains pending.

Her legal team maintains that responsibility for settling the original mortgage belonged to the company that had previously sold the property to Zaki, not to the actress herself.
