Travellers heading to Montreal Trudeau International Airport are being urged to plan ahead this week as temporary morning closures affect road access to the terminal. The disruption is linked to ongoing demolition work at the airport’s multi-level parking structure.
According to Aéroports de Montréal, the closures run from April 27 to May 1, daily between 6:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Travellers are advised to allow extra time to reach the airport, especially for morning flights or when using taxis and ride-hailing services.
CityNews Montreal reported that the arrivals area will be closed during those hours, with all traffic redirected to the departures drop-off zone. Airport officials said the disruption is tied to the dismantling of parts of the multi-level parking structure, including stairwell components.
The work is part of a broader redevelopment plan aimed at improving traffic flow, expanding vehicle capacity, and making the airport easier to navigate. A new curbside pick-up and drop-off area is expected to be completed by 2028 and is projected to significantly increase current capacity.
For travellers, the practical advice is simple: leave earlier than usual, check airport updates before leaving, and confirm the correct drop-off point with a driver or ride-hailing service. Those travelling with children, seniors, or time-sensitive connections should avoid arriving at the last minute while the temporary traffic changes remain in place.
