The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will introduce a new monthly fare cap on September 1, 2026, allowing riders to use public transit free for the rest of the month after paying for 47 trips.
Under the new system, the 48th trip and all subsequent rides will be free until the end of the month, in a move aimed at reducing transportation costs for frequent riders and families.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said the new fare cap will provide additional support for people who rely regularly on public transit and help lower their monthly commuting costs.
