Kenya's Leonard Langat successfully defended his Toronto Waterfront Marathon title on Sunday, clocking 2:06:51, while compatriot Leah Jeruto surged to victory in the women's race in 2:21:19.
Langat became the first repeat men's champion since 2017, leading a Kenyan sweep of the top five places. Jeruto claimed her first career marathon victory after pulling clear late in the race, finishing 15 seconds ahead of Ethiopia's Nigsti Haftu.
Canadian runners also had a strong showing. Dylan Alick won the men's half-marathon in 1:03:49, while Teagan Robertson took the women's title in 1:13:58. In the national marathon championships, Andrew Davies ran 2:08:48, setting a Canadian record for the fastest marathon debut, and Dayna Pidhoresky secured the women's Canadian title in 2:26:02.
More than 31,000 participants joined the weekend's events, which drew an estimated 150,000 spectators. The 37th edition included Saturday's 5K and Sunday's marathon and half-marathon races, with runners passing through downtown Toronto and along the Lake Ontario waterfront. Road closures and public transit diversions accompanied the event.
