Cyberattacks Target UAE Aviation, Energy and Education Sectors — Stopped Before Services Were Disrupted

The UAE announced Monday, August 10, that its national cybersecurity systems had stopped advanced and coordinated cyberattacks targeting the country’s aviation, energy and education sectors before the attackers could disrupt critical services.
The UAE Cybersecurity Council said the attacks used several methods, including attempts to breach digital infrastructure, access accounts and operational data, carry out targeted phishing campaigns, and exploit users as entry points into protected systems.
National cybersecurity teams detected the activity, traced attack paths and indicators of compromise, and took technical measures to contain the threats and prevent them from spreading.
Authorities said the attacks did not affect the continuity of vital services. The published statement did not identify who was behind the attacks or name the individual organizations targeted.
