WestJet–Qatar Airways deal connects Canadian flights with Doha on one ticket

Travellers connecting between Canadian cities and Doha can combine WestJet and Qatar Airways flights on a single ticket under a partnership announced October 26. Toronto and Montréal serve as the connecting airports between the two airlines’ networks.
The arrangement, known as a codeshare, allows each airline to sell seats on selected flights operated by its partner. A journey booked through Qatar Airways, for example, can include a domestic flight on a WestJet aircraft alongside the international leg operated by Qatar Airways.
WestJet says covered itineraries offer coordinated connections, baggage checked through to the final destination and the ability to earn WestJet Rewards across the full journey.
Qatar Airways listed onward Canadian destinations including Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Regina, Saskatoon, St. John’s and Winnipeg, with connections through Toronto and Montréal.
Initially, WestJet is selling Qatar Airways’ nonstop Toronto–Doha and Montréal–Doha services under its own flight numbers. Qatar Airways is doing the same on selected WestJet flights. WestJet plans to extend the arrangement to selected destinations beyond Doha in a later phase.
The announcement follows Qatar Airways’ increase from 12 to 14 weekly Canadian flights on October 25, giving both Toronto and Montréal daily service to Doha.
