New Canadian Recalls Raise Safety Concerns for Families and Food Allergy Consumers

Canadian authorities issued new recall alerts on June 5, 2026, covering several products sold or distributed in Canada, including a children’s product, shampoo and conditioner, window blinds and a Japanese food product. The recalls cite risks related to falls, entrapment, strangulation, microbial contamination and undeclared fish allergens. Consumers are being told to stop using or consuming the affected products and follow the official return, repair or disposal instructions.
The list includes Cosyland Kids Kitchen Step Stools, which Health Canada says may collapse or tip over during use. The agency also warned that a child’s torso may become trapped in the product’s openings. Consumers should stop using the item immediately and keep it away from children until repair parts are received.
Health Canada also recalled Renpure Tea Tree & Rosemary Scalp Rebalancing Shampoo & Conditioner, sold in Canada through Costco Canada, because of elevated microbial contamination. The agency says the product may cause irritation or sensitivity, with greater risk for people with weakened immune systems or chronic lung disease. Consumers are advised to stop using the product and return it to Costco for a refund.
Another recall involves HJ Window Roller Blind products because of a strangulation hazard. Consumers are being advised to stop using the blinds immediately, keep them away from children and either dispose of them or return them to Panda Mart for a refund.
On the food side, Tako Wasabi products from the Azuma-tei brand were recalled because they contain fish that is not declared on the label. The products were distributed online and in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec, with possible distribution in other provinces and territories. For people with fish allergies or sensitivities, the undeclared allergen could cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.
Consumers should check product names, lot numbers, best-before dates and purchase details against the official recall notices. Any matching product should not be used, consumed, served, sold or distributed. Food products affected by allergen recalls should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase.
