Family Business Closes Week One at EGP 11.19 Million as Mohamed Saad’s Return Opens Outside the Top Tier

Family Business ended its first week at the Egyptian box office with EGP 11,193,957 in ticket sales, according to elCinema’s weekly market tracker. That placed the film third in Egypt for week 13 of 2026, behind Bershama at EGP 84,187,289 and Egybest at EGP 28,090,224. The ranking suggests a visible commercial presence for Mohamed Saad’s return, but not the kind of breakout launch that might have been expected from a star of his long-standing box office profile.

The revenue trail from the first few days offers the clearest reading of the film’s start. It opened with EGP 1.835 million on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, passed EGP 10 million within five days, then reached EGP 11.163 million after a daily gross of EGP 1.029 million, before closing its tracked first week at just over EGP 11.19 million. The pattern points to a decent holiday boost at the start, followed by softer momentum than the two films ahead of it.

Creatively, the film follows a poor family trying to survive through petty theft before the father abandons that path and puts in place a new plan: each family member takes a job inside a wealthy household while hiding their relationship to one another. The film is directed by Wael Ehsan, written by the 3Bros workshop, and stars Mohamed Saad, Ghada Adel, Hidy Karam, Donia Sami, Mahmoud Abdel Moghny, and Osama El Hady. It was released in Egypt on March 19, 2026.

The more important takeaway is not that the film failed to attract viewers altogether, but that there is a clear gap between the headline value of Mohamed Saad’s comeback and the force of its actual market push. In holiday seasons, star power alone rarely secures the top spot; a film also needs sharper concept heat and faster audience traction. Based on its first-week revenue curve and market position, Family Business opened as a respectable performer, but not as a dominant one. This is an analytical inference based on the available box office pattern.
