The Montreal International Jazz Festival closes its 46th edition today, Saturday, July 4, 2026, after ten days of music, public gatherings and summer celebrations in the heart of downtown Montreal.
According to the festival’s official website, this year’s edition ran from June 25 to July 4 in the Quartier des Spectacles, confirming the festival’s place as one of the city’s most important cultural events of the summer season.
The Government of Canada said the 2026 program included more than 350 performances, two thirds of them free of charge, featuring established and emerging artists across a wide range of jazz and related musical styles.
Canadian Heritage also announced $600,000 in support for the festival through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund, noting that the event brings together more than 3,000 artists from over 30 countries each year and contributes to Montreal’s cultural and economic vitality.
Over the past ten days, the Quartier des Spectacles became an open-air stage for residents and visitors, with concerts and activities spread across indoor and outdoor venues. Place des Arts describes the festival as a signature event that brings Montreal to life for ten consecutive days and nights, combining major names with rising talent.
This year’s closing day comes as Montreal continues to build its reputation as one of Canada’s leading summer festival cities. For local businesses, restaurants, hotels and tourism operators, the jazz festival remains more than an artistic event; it is also an important driver of activity in the city’s downtown core.
With its mix of free outdoor performances and ticketed concerts, the Montreal International Jazz Festival ends its 46th edition as a reminder of the role music plays in shaping the city’s identity: open, lively, diverse and deeply connected to public life.
