The Sudanese Canadian Association of Ottawa (SCAO) is preparing to hold the first Sudanese Cultural Festival in Canada’s National Capital Region on September 5 and 6, 2026, in Ottawa. The event will introduce visitors from across the community to Sudan’s diverse cultural heritage. A final venue has not yet been announced.
The two day festival will feature live music and performances, traditional Sudanese food, cultural exhibits, children’s activities, an arts and crafts market, and opportunities for community connections.
The festival reflects SCAO’s broader mission to preserve Sudanese heritage and pass it on to younger generations of Sudanese Canadians, while creating opportunities for the wider Canadian community to learn more about Sudan’s cultures, traditions and languages.
SCAO is a registered non profit organization serving Sudanese Canadians, families, newcomers and students in the Ottawa Gatineau region through cultural and social programs and community support initiatives.
