Toronto has unveiled plans to expand and upgrade BMO Field as part of preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The project includes the addition of new upper-tier seating to meet FIFA capacity requirements, improved accessibility features, and the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the stadium.

Major construction phases are expected to begin in 2025, with completion scheduled for spring 2026, ahead of the tournament. The expansion is part of broader national preparations to upgrade World Cup host venues in both Toronto and Vancouver.
