Team Canada captured the gold medal at the 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship after defeating the United States 3–2 in overtime in the Czech Republic.
Team captain Marie-Philip Poulin scored the decisive overtime goal, securing Canada’s fifth world championship title in six years and extending its dominance in international women’s hockey.
Goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens delivered a standout performance with 29 saves throughout the game and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Head coach Troy Ryan praised the team’s resilience and unity, stating that the victory “represents everything Canadian hockey stands for.”
