Canada is preparing for a more affordable summer travel season as the federal government brings back the Canada Strong Pass, offering free admission to Parks Canada locations from June 19 to September 7, 2026.

The offer covers national parks, national historic sites, and national marine conservation areas operated by Parks Canada. It is designed to help residents and visitors explore Canada’s natural and cultural destinations at a lower cost during the busy summer season.

Visitors do not need to buy a special pass or register in advance to benefit from free admission. Parks Canada says people can simply visit participating locations during the free admission period and regular operating hours.

The offer, however, does not make every service free. Fees may still apply for reservations, parking where charged, firewood, fishing licences, paid tours and programs, third-party services, and some permits.

The free admission also does not apply to provincial, territorial, municipal, or private parks. In Quebec, it does not apply to Sépaq parks, because the offer is limited to places operated by Parks Canada.

In addition to free admission, Parks Canada is offering a 25 percent discount on camping and overnight stays operated by the agency during the same period, including several camping and roofed accommodation options. Advance planning is still recommended because many locations are expected to be busy.

For families, students, newcomers, seniors, and budget-conscious travellers, the program creates a practical chance to enjoy short trips inside Canada without paying daily admission fees.

Visitors are encouraged to check the specific Parks Canada location they plan to visit before travelling, especially for hours, reservations, parking, availability, and any additional service fees.
