Car Seat, Toys and Cocoa Mixes: Canada Warns of Products That May Put Children at Risk

Canadian authorities have issued several recent recalls and safety warnings involving products that may be found in family homes, including a child car seat, children’s toys, a Build-A-Bear plush toy and powdered cocoa and café drink mixes.
One of the most serious warnings involves the Belecoo car seat sold with a 3 in 1 baby stroller on AliExpress. Health Canada says using the restraint in a motor vehicle could increase the risk of injury in a collision because the product does not display Transport Canada’s National Safety Mark and has not been certified to meet Canadian child restraint safety requirements. Families are told to stop using the seat immediately and dispose of it so it cannot be used again.
Health Canada also recalled Stephan Baby Boo Bunnie and Friends children’s toys because a cube component may crack or break, creating a choking or injury hazard. No injuries had been reported in Canada as of late March, but U.S. regulators had received 20 reports of the cube cracking or breaking, including one report of a child swallowing sharp pieces.
Build-A-Bear Workshop Heartwarming Hugs Bear 2 was also recalled because of a choking hazard. The large weighted plush bear contains a side pouch with a heart filled with ceramic beads that can be heated or cooled. Health Canada says the zipper slider may detach in some cases, creating a small part hazard for children. The company reported that 519 units were sold in Canada from January to March 2026.
Transport Canada also posted a recall involving certain GOODBABY/Evenflo infant and child seats or travel systems that were incorrectly shipped to Canada as U.S.-certified products. Canadian rules require instructions and labels in both English and French, and missing information could cause confusion and increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Food-related warnings also affect families. Canada’s recent recall list includes Ghirardelli powdered beverage mixes recalled over Salmonella risk, along with organic microgreens recalled due to pathogenic E. coli and Shirreza Tahini Halva with Date Sap recalled due to Salmonella.
Families should check products at home, especially children’s car seats bought online, toys with small parts, weighted plush toys and powdered drink mixes. If a product matches an official recall, stop using it immediately and do not sell, donate, serve or give it to anyone else.
