FIFA has temporarily removed resale tickets for Toronto’s 2026 World Cup matches from its official marketplace after a new Ontario law capped ticket resales at face value.
The move affects matches scheduled for Toronto’s BMO Field, as the city prepares to host six games during the tournament. FIFA is now adjusting its resale platform to comply with the province’s new rules.
The Ontario law, known as the Putting Fans First Act, prohibits people and platforms from selling or facilitating ticket resales above the original face value. The measure is designed to protect fans from steep markups on tickets for sports, concerts, and other live events.
According to reports, the Toronto resale listings have not been permanently deleted. They are temporarily unavailable while FIFA updates its system to meet the new legal requirements.
