Morocco continued their impressive run at the FIFA World Cup 2026 with a dramatic 4-2 victory over Haiti on Wednesday, June 24, in their final Group C match in Atlanta. The win secured Morocco’s place in the Round of 32 after one of the most entertaining and unpredictable matches of the group stage.

The Atlas Lions entered the match knowing that a win would confirm their qualification and keep them in the race for top spot with Brazil, who were playing Scotland at the same time. But Haiti made the match far more difficult than expected, taking an early lead in the 10th minute before Achraf Hakimi equalized for Morocco in the 39th minute.

Haiti shocked Morocco again in the 43rd minute when Wilson Isidor scored a stunning long-range strike, one of the most memorable goals of the tournament so far. Morocco responded quickly before halftime, with Ismael Saibari scoring in stoppage time to make it 2-2 at the break.

In the second half, Morocco showed more composure and control. Substitute Soufiane Rahimi gave the Atlas Lions their first lead in the 78th minute, before Gessime Yassine sealed the victory in the 89th minute after a VAR review confirmed the goal.

Morocco’s attacking performance was clear in the numbers. The team finished with 22 shots, including 11 on target, their highest total of the tournament so far. Hakimi was one of the standout players, scoring once, assisting another goal, and being named Man of the Match.

Despite the win, Morocco finished second in Group C after Brazil defeated Scotland 3-0 in the other group match. Brazil topped the group, while Morocco advanced as runners-up and will face the winner of Group F in the Round of 32.

For Morocco, the importance of this victory goes beyond the scoreline. The team came from behind twice, showed mental strength under pressure, and proved that it can respond in difficult moments. However, the match also exposed defensive issues that must be addressed before the knockout stage, especially against faster and more clinical opponents.
